Lego Challenge!

A few times this school year, the Grade One class has participated in some Lego building challenges. During these challenges, Mrs. Stemmler will give the students a prompt that they need to use to build from. 

On Tuesday, the class participated in two prompts. The one required them to build individually, but the other had them build as a table group collaboratively.

Lego Challenge #1: Build something with the same number of pieces as your age
This build had individual students having to think very creatively as students needed either 6 or 7 pieces only (and most really wanted to build with more). How do you think they did? 

Lego Challenge #2: Build a pyramid where each layer is a different colour 

This build required the Grade Ones to build collaboratively in their table groups. Each group needed to learn how to communicate with one another to make this build successful. In the end, we all agreed that in order to properly build something, we need to come up with a plan before we even start to build. We had learned about the planning step, but it's easy to forget when we get excited to build!

Lego Challenge #3: FREE BUILD!
We didn't have enough time to do a third challenge, so we all had some time to do some free building.
